About GENESIS CIRCUITS
GENESIS CIRCUITS is an electronics contract manufacturer that assembles printed circuit board assemblies for other companies' products. Eighteen years of operation have been spent inside one industrial zone in Penang, building a floor that can take a zero-quantity prototype and a volume programme on the same equipment.
History
From one SMT line to a six-line contract manufacturer
The dates below are the points where the plant gained a capability it did not have before, rather than a list of awards. Each one changed what kind of programme we could accept.
| Year | Milestone | What it changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2008 | Founded in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone | One SMT line and 22 staff assembling controller boards for regional industrial customers |
| 2011 | ISO 9001 quality management system first registered | Documented process control and an auditable record set; the certificate scope names this site |
| 2014 | Second SMT line and wave soldering installed | Mixed-technology assembly in house, and the first programmes above 10,000 units a year |
| 2017 | ISO 13485:2016 medical device registration | Entry into diagnostics and laboratory instruments, with device-history-record discipline |
| 2019 | Plant expanded to 6,400 m² | 4,100 m² of ESD-controlled production area and three flexible high-mix lines added |
| 2022 | Shenzhen sourcing desk and in-house test engineering | ICT and functional test fixture development on site, with components purchased through authorized distribution only |
| 2026 | Six SMT lines, three DIP lines, ~240 staff | Audited against IATF 16949 and AS9100D, with 99.4% first-pass yield and 0.42% DPMO published monthly |
How the company works
One site, one owner per programme, and a written limit on what we claim
Engineering decisions stay with engineers
A quotation is produced by the engineer who will run the programme, which is why DFM notes arrive with the price instead of after the order. That engineer also owns the first-article report, the change requests and the questions that arrive about a lot built months earlier. Nothing about the arrangement is unusual except the part that matters: the person who quoted the job is the person accountable for it.
Everything under one roof
SMT, through-hole, selective soldering, inspection, coating, cable assembly and box build all sit inside the same 6,400 m² building, so a partially finished assembly does not cross a company boundary. That removes the transfer losses that show up as schedule slippage and unexplained yield drops, and it means one quality system covers the whole route from incoming components to the packed carton.
Stated scope, not implied scope
We hold ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 in this site's own name and are audited against IATF 16949 and AS9100D without claiming certification under them. UL and ITAR registration sit with partner facilities and are described as available on request. Buyers audit the gap between a claim and a certificate, so the gap is stated on the page rather than discovered in a supplier questionnaire.
The company in figures
Three numbers that describe the size of this operation
Published so a buyer can judge fit before a call: a programme that needs twelve lines a week is not a programme this plant should quote.
People
~240 staff
Three shifts across the assembly floor, with engineering, test development, quality and planning employed on site rather than contracted in.
Footprint
6,400 m²
Total plant area in Bayan Lepas, of which 4,100 m² is ESD-controlled production space held to ANSI/ESD S20.20.
Capacity
6 SMT + 3 DIP lines
Three high-speed chip-shooter lines, three flexible high-mix lines, three wave lines and one selective-soldering cell.
What we stand on
Six commitments that shape how a programme is run
Each of these has a cost attached to it, which is the reason it is written down rather than left to good intentions.
Commitment 01 / Quotation
Engineers quote, and DFM notes come with the price
Every quotation carries the DFM observations found on the data package, including the ones that cost us money to raise. A known layout risk that is not reported at quote becomes a production failure later, and that failure is more expensive for both sides.
Commitment 02 / Change control
Nothing changes on a running programme without a record
Any change to a laminate, a solder alloy, a purchased part or a test limit is raised as a documented change with the customer notified inside the agreed window. Silent substitution is treated as the most serious process failure a contract manufacturer can commit.
Commitment 03 / Sourcing
Components come from authorized distribution only
Open-market and broker purchases are not used on customer programmes, however long the lead time. A Shenzhen sourcing desk covers hard-to-find parts through franchised channels, with incoming microscopy and XRF on new supplier lots, because a counterfeit that reaches a board is a field failure waiting for a date.
Commitment 04 / Scope
We state what this site holds and what it does not
ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 are registered to this plant. IATF 16949 and AS9100D are audits, not certificates. UL and ITAR registration belong to partner facilities. A buyer who finds a gap between the claim and the paperwork stops trusting every other number on the site.
Commitment 05 / Records
A build stays retrievable years after it ships
Records are retained for 7 years on industrial and consumer work, 15 years on automotive programmes and per the device history record requirement on medical work. Retrieval is tested annually against a serial number, since retention means nothing if the record cannot be found when a customer asks.
Commitment 06 / Capacity
We quote what the floor can actually run
Capacity is planned at line level, with utilisation currently at 86.2% of planned hours. When a demand forecast would overload a line, the second-line qualification is quoted with the price instead of being promised later, and a programme that does not fit is declined rather than quietly delayed.
Company facts
The details a supplier questionnaire asks for
The same ten lines appear in the vendor-registration pack, so nothing here has to be requested twice.

Buyer questions
Accountability, data handling and shipping regions
One programme engineer owns the account from quotation to shipment, and that person is named on the quotation rather than assigned after the order. They sign the first-article report, they are the contact for a change request, and they are the person who answers when a question arrives about a lot built six months ago. Escalation goes to the operations manager at the same site, which matters because everything from stencil cutting to final test happens inside one building rather than across subcontractors.
Gerbers, BOMs, CAD data and test programs are stored on access-controlled servers inside the plant, reachable only by the engineers assigned to the programme, with no customer data on personal devices and no cloud sharing outside the agreed channel. We sign your NDA rather than requiring ours, and we will work to a customer-specific data-handling instruction where one exists. On request we return or destroy the data package at the end of a programme, and the stencils and fixtures built for it remain your property.
Most of the work is for hardware companies and OEMs in North America and Europe, shipped from Penang on EXW, FOB Penang, CIF, DAP or DDP terms, with invoices issued in US dollars. Prototype quantities move by express courier and volume production by air or sea freight depending on the schedule. We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of conformance and the country-of-origin declaration that the shipment needs, and we work with your nominated freight forwarder when you have one.
